About
Code 4 Finances
Founded in 2021, Code 4 Finances' mission is to maximize financial wellness for first responders and frontline supporters, free of charge.
Most first responders will recognize "Code 4" as a radio code for "no further assistance needed" or "scene secure." Code 4 Finances emphasizes its focus to those who serve with this metaphor and through the delivery of personal finance education with terminology and concepts that resonates with many on the frontline, in particular to those serving in law enforcement.
Code 4 Finances provides personal finance education to help first responders improve their financial literacy, and money management skills and knowledge so they can make their personal finance decisions with confidence. We do not sell or promote for profit any financial products or services, and we do not manage assets. All content is for educational purposes and does not constitute investment advice. Visitors are responsible for conducting their own due diligence to make informed financial decisions.
Max Bosel
I am a CalPERS service retiree who has 40 years of public safety experience, culminating with a 31-year municipal policing career.
Over my career, I've paid for financial planning services that sold me insurance, annuities, get rich quick schemes, and other systems that were a waste of time and money. This prompted an "encore" passion to share lessons from my entrepreneurial immigrant parents, financial planning courses and programs, and free on-line resources that allowed me to shepherd my family from debt to financial security.
For those interested in my "CV," I am a 2023 Stanford Univeristy Distinguished Careers Institute Fellow, and hold a BA in Management from St. Mary's College of California, an MPA from Notre Dame de Namur University, a Graduate Certificate in Financial Life Planning from Golden Gate University, a Professional Certificate in Personal Finance from Indiana University Kelley School of Business, and have completed personal finance coursework from Stanford Continuing Studies, UC Berkeley edX, and the Association of Financial Counseling and Planning Education.
I hope you find the information and resources from this site useful so you can be Code 4 in your pursuit to financial wellness!
