About
Founded in 2021, Code 4 Finances is dedicated to maximizing financial wellness for first responders and frontline supporters.
Many in public safety recognize “Code 4” as a radio code meaning “no further assistance needed.” This reflects our mission—empowering those who serve to maximize financial wellness. Code 4 Finances delivers personal finance education using terminology and concepts that resonate with those who have served on the frontlines.
We provide financial literacy training to help first responders build money management skills and financial knowledge so they can make informed financial decisions with confidence. We do not sell financial products, manage assets, or promote for-profit services. All content is for educational purposes only and does not constitute investment advice. Visitors are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence when making financial decisions.
Max Bosel
I’m a CalPERS retiree with 40 years of public safety experience. Throughout my journey, I’ve faced the same financial pitfalls that many of us encounter—spending hard-earned money on financial planning services that pushed insurance, annuities, and get-rich-quick schemes, only to find they were costly distractions that lacked a holistic approach to financial wellness.
These experiences ignited a passion to learn how to guide my own family from debt to financial stability. Now, I’m dedicated to sharing those insights to help others navigate their own financial journeys, and have developed a framework for personal financial planning considerations with a focus for public safety professionals.
For those curious about my credentials, I was a 2023 Stanford Univeristy Distinguished Careers Institute Fellow, and hold a BA in Management from St. Mary’s College of California, an MPA from Notre Dame de Namur University, a Graduate Certificate in Financial Life Planning from Golden Gate University, a Professional Certificate in Personal Finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, and have completed personal finance coursework through Stanford Continuing Studies, UC Berkeley edX, and the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education
My goal is to provide practical, actionable resources that empower you to have the confidence and motivation to achieve your financial life goals. I hope your are “Code 4” in your pursuit of financial wellness!
